Experience the Zombie Apocalypse!

I think every zombie fan has, at some point, fantasized about being in a zombie apocalypse. The fear, the adrenalin, the undead. Would you survive? Could you work with other survivors as a team to carve out an existence? I guess we'll never know...

..or WILL we?

"Across the pond" our friends in the UK are doing just that with "Day" or "Full Immersion" events consisting of you, a couple of weapons, and a horde of the undead!

For one fee, these guys provide you with weapons (airsoft) & training, food and FEAR! Apparently, you can choose to have your event in either "The Manor", or "The Mall", which according to their FAQ page is an actual "disused shopping centre...due for demolition." How's THAT for a realistic apocalypse scenario?

You'll work side by side within a small group of survivors as you attempt to keep from getting eaten.  Could you make it? Only one way to find out.

School Spirits

As a fan of horror, I am loving this new show on the Syfy channel called "School Spirits."

Each episode tells of a particular haunting of an individual, or individuals happening in or near a high school or college campus. The stories are told by the person who experienced them and re-enacted by actors with some really creepy fx thrown in.

These stories are "based on true accounts", but there's no telling how much extra is written in to give it some extra scream appeal. And you know what? I really don't care. I love a good ghost story, and so far, each episode has succeeded in giving me the chills at least once.

If you're like me, and you enjoy a good ghost story that makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck, I highly recommend this show. Just keep a bucket by your bed, because you'll probably be too afraid to run down the hall to the potty in the middle of the night.

Here's a clip from the latest episode. Enjoy (cue evil laughter):

B'hold Designs Heads Down South!

Ever been to Georgia? You should go. It's a gorgeous state full of lush scenery and no end of amazing attractions to enlighten and entertain.

Among those is the ROSWELL GHOST TOUR, in Roswell, Georgia.  Run by Joe & Dianna Avena, it's a walking tour of some of Roswell's haunted locations.

Here's the scoop from Dianna on CBS 46 news, Oct. 13th, 2006:

What does this have to do with B'hold Designs? Joe & Dianna were kind enough to allow yours truly to design some new ghost tour apparel, like the one on the left!! Wasn't that cool of them? Now you can support the tour AND your favorite four-eyed photoshop nerd at the same time! Check out their STORE.

So, head on down to Roswell and take the tour! Bring a flashlight and your walking shoes, and tell Joe & Dianna that Brett sent you. It won't get you any special discounts or free gear, but hey... at least you tried.

Aim high. Run fast. Y'all come back now, ya hear?

Fun Zombie Flicks

When I talk with people about their favorite zombie films, or just horror films in general, Quarantine is hardly ever mentioned, and I'm confused by that a bit.

Maybe it's because it's a a remake of a 2007 Spanish film, and most remakes lack a little something in comparison. Maybe it's the shaky, "documentary style" presentation. Or maybe it's because it only received a 58% rating on Rotten Tomatoes (some people actually listen to film critics).

Whatever it is that turns them off of it is a mystery to me because I like it. It's full of undead, power failures, and fear. If you haven't seen it, come on over to B'HQ and we'll watch it together in the break room!

Quarantined trailer:

By the way, there's a sequel... Quarantined 2... I loved this one, too.

The Walking Dead at Comic-Con

Oh, you lucky skunks that got to go to Comic-Con! How awesome it must have been to see our favorite characters we love (and love to hate) from AMC's "The Walking Dead!"

Apparently members of the cast spoke to the crowd and no doubt had fan-boys and girls alike hanging on their every word:

• The producers all raved about the elaborate new prison set, with Kirkman assuring everyone that "it doesn't look like a back lot."

• Both Danai Gurira, who plays sword-wielding Michonne, and David Morrissey, who plays the Governor, were thrilled to join the cast, with Morrissey saying he came into it as a fan. Like Andrew Lincoln, Morrissey is a Brit. When asked the difference between British TV and American TV he replied, "the heat."

• Poor Sarah Wayne Callies, who plays Lori, is quite possibly the most hated character on the show right now and knows it. Apparently she's even been accosted by irate fans at the grocery store!

• Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl, confessed that his role as the crossbow carrying tough guy has helped him with the ladies saying "Everybody loves a redneck."

THEN... the ultimate.... a FOUR MINUTE preview of Season Three! Looks like the zombie crap is about to hit the fan....

Happy Friday the 13th!!

Did you hear that? It sounded like someone getting their chest ripped open right outside the front door! Better go turn out the lights and take a shower!

Yes, it's that time of year again, kids! I'm speaking of the time when we honor one of the greatest "zombies" of them all...

JASON VORHEESS!!

I love those movies. Predictable? Yes. Silly? At times, yes. Awesome? You know it.

There's just something about the campy Friday the 13th films that make me smile. Maybe it's people being folded in half... or seeing some bawling sorority girl trying to start a car in the rain...heck, maybe it's just the creepy, stalking music they play when Jason is close. Whatever it is, I'll be a fan forever, and I hope you are, too.

So tonight, grab some Jason movies, turn out the lights and get comfy. And whatever you do, if you hear a scream, go out and investigate!

Ultimate Zombie Weapons, pt. 4

In the first three installments of this on-going series, we've seen some incredible firepower. We've seen guns that could mow down the undead and turn a rampaging horde into nothing more than an oil slick in a matter of seconds.

BUT... what happens when the ammo runs out? Unlike popular video games, running across piles of the perfect ammo, or fully loaded AK's is highly unlikely.... so what then??

Introducing the do-all, be-all weapon of the bullet-less frontier... The Halligan Bar!

Firefighters love this thing. Why? Because it's can pry, twist, punch and strike. Consisting of a claw, a blade and a pick it's more than able to get that frustrating door unstuck, or put out the lights of any pesky undead.

The one pictured is about 30 inches, titanium and weighs a mere 5.25 lbs.... but get your wallet out because it's over $500 (although there are cheaper versions).

So what happens if you find yourself barricaded in a janitor's closet with the undead blocking the door? You pull out the halligan bar and you make a NEW door.

Resident Evil: Retribution

When it comes to zombie flicks, I'm pretty traditional. I'm not really big on special mutated extra tough-to-kill undead monsters that can almost fly. Personally I think the idea of everyone you know chasing you as undead and trying to eat you is horrifying enough, but that's just me.

HOWEVER...I am a sucker for just about any movie with zombies in it, so of course I've seen all the Resident Evil films and will probably see this latest installment as well because... well, it looks pretty kick ass.

I'm sure by now you're wondering why Alice doesn't just skip down to the B'hold Designs Storefront and pick her up some of my award-winning, form-fitting, and life-saving Ultimate Camouflage! Yeah.... me too.

But until she does, I at least have THIS IMAGE to hang on my bedroom wall.

Z World Detroit

Have you ever driven past abandoned factories or boarded up homes and pictured it surrounded by the undead? Maybe you've envisioned yourself on the inside, doing whatever you can to fortify your shelter from the endless sea of zombies that pound on the walls and windows.

Now that you've imagined that... imagine THIS:

Several buildings just like that, covering several square blocks, all walled in creating one huge zombie theme park where you could run for your life all. night. long.

Someone is trying to get something like that going in Detroit and it sounds amazing! If you'd like to help, you can donate to the project HERE.

Ultimate Zombie Weapons, pt. 3

Shotguns are pretty awesome. In fact, a shotgun is (many times) my weapon of choice when playing the video game Left4dead; BUT as is illustrated by massive hordes of zombies in my sons video game, "one shot at a time" firing sometimes isnt enough to keep your face intact.

Why doesn't someone create an automatic shotgun that can fire nearly 300 rounds in a minute and even double as a small grenade launcher?

Oh wait someone has.... the AA-12!
