Behind the Prison Fences

It looks like our favorite band of zombie apocalypse survivors of AMC's "The Walking Dead" have been busy creating a life for themselves in the hiatus following season three!

Check out this video of Executive Producer, and creator of the "The Walking Dead" comic series, Robert Kirkman giving us a peek behind the prison fences at what's to come!

Just a little over a month to go people!!

Still Sprucin' Up the Office

Sometime back, I mentioned the blank walls of my office here at B'HQ. I described (here and here) how I had decided on a three-poster, non-zombie theme for my tiny nook of the building.... "favorite films from my youth."

The three of them have been getting a nice reception and I like the way they look, but it just felt like I wasn't finished. "To the interweb!", I cried as I searched films from my younger days... way back when brontosaurus roamed the earth... until I found the perfect one.

It was a great movie that I saw at the theater on a blind date, and while it wasn't a love connection between the young lady and myself, it WAS a love connection on screen (for both the movie and the lovely Mia Sara - yowza).

I present, Ferris Bueller's Day Off.... the perfect "if only" comedy for the average high school student (and now middle-aged desk jockey).

Dead Before Dawn

There's a new zombie/demon 3D  horror/comedy on the horizon! It seems a certain group of teens break a mystical vase and all hell breaks loose.... almost literally.

Good News for David Morrissey, Bad News for The Governor?

Warning: potential spoilers below

Everyone who watches AMC's "The Walking Dead" knows that The Governor escaped at the end of season three and his whereabouts are currently unknown. Will he pop up in season four and make a nuisance of himself, or.... is he gone for good?

David Morrissey, who played The Governor so brilliantly has recently landed the lead role of a new AMC project called "Line of Sight." Does that spell the end of his role on "The Walking Dead", or will he be able to do both jobs?

As of now, AMC swears that he can do both. Describing themselves as "huge fans of David Morrissey", AMC's powers that be say they're glad "he'll be doing double duty...on The Walking Dead and our pilot for Line of Sight, both of which are produced in Atlanta."

Being a new project, it's possible that the pilot is all the further "Line of Sight" will go. No word on what might happen if it's picked up for a full blown series. It might just mean the end of Andrea's final bad-boy boyfriend.

Hey, check out this TVLine interview with Andrew Lincoln who plays Rick... I still get a kick out of that English accent.

Zombies, History and Hockey

What do you get when you cross zombies, history and hockey? You get Flyers goalie Steve Mason.

Now, I don't know hockey, but I know the undead, and apparently Steve is a pretty big fan of AMC's "The Walking Dead" which makes him A-OK in my book.

He's such a fan of the moaning brain-eaters that he has commissioned artist Franny Drummond of PaintZoo to create a freaky awesome goalie mask that involves the undead and Philadelphia history. Interesting challenge.... and by the look of this video, Drummond is definitely up to it.

"Hold On To Your Nuts"

Ever see the movie "Wanted"? I never did, so I have no opinion as to whether or not it was any good.

However, love it or hate it you should know that the director of that film, Timur Bekmambetov, has been hard at work trying to sell another film..... about squirrels.

You heard me.

The movie "Squirrels" focuses on crazy tree climbing squirrels that feed on human flesh. I don't think they're zombies... they're just seriously pissed off.

Here's a synopsis:

"When a young man’s estranged father is killed under suspicious circumstances, he returns home for the first time in years to get to the bottom of the mystery. Hoping to uncover some logical explanation, he instead finds his mom’s sleazy new boyfriend, a natural gas company buying up the town, an angry female sheriff who happens to be his ex-girlfriend, and an army of flesh-eating squirrels hellbent on destroying everything in their path due to an erosion of their food chain as a result of environmental destruction by the gas company."

No official film trailer yet, but here's a promotional, pre-production clip. Enjoy.

From where does someone pull such inspiration for this kind of movie? Maybe he was watching "Christmas Vacation" (title shout out at 1:55).

Zoinks!

File this under "why has no one thought of this already?!"

Photographer Jeff Zoet, a self-described fan of "Scooby-Doo" since childhood, has taken his skills behind the lens to create a "what if" scenario with those 'meddling kids' and the undead!

Zoet says, "If you just step back and take a look at the core of the TV show, it was about a group of kids that solve mysteries of the strange and unexplainable," he said. "Since it was a children's cartoon, things obviously never got too serious or life-threatening. So, I decided to set up a photo shoot with these characters that my entire generation was familiar with, and drop them into a more 'realistic' world where their lives could actually be in mortal danger."

Take notice Hollywood mogul types... this movie NEEDS to be made! (Live action of course. The cartoon version has already been made. See?)

Check out the awesomeness below:

And let me add this about that last photo.... "jinkies!!"

Dead Rising 3

I'm not a gamer by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, with the exception of the occasional "Left4Dead" battle with my son and the almost daily "MarioKart" death match with my wife, I don't play much at all.

That might change really soon.

Check out this trailer for "Dead Rising 3" coming out on Xbox One this holiday season. You won't be disappointed (play close attention to the sweet custom ride at the end.... genius).

Zombie Lori??

Oh those crazy deleted scenes.

I always feel ripped off in some way when I find out about a scene being deleted before the film or television show is presented to the public. Sometimes it's necessary I guess, but others, it just leaves questions.

Remember in "Happy Gilmore" how we never got to see Happy beat the crap out of the cranky orderly that was so mean to his precious grandmother? I left the theater with no closure! However, there's a deleted scene (frequently shown on tv) where he throws the guy out of a window.

Here's another time where I feel a little ripped off.

Think back to season three of AMC's "The Walking Dead." Remember Rick taking a little journey down looney boulevard after the death of his wife? Remember the scene with him seeing her in the white dress? Well, it was originally supposed to be a LOT creepier.

In the deleted version of that scene (originally posted by Entertainment Weekly), after kissing the hallucination of Lori, Rick was supposed to step back and see her as a zombie (see the photo above)! go to the Entertainment Weekly link in the first sentence of this paragraph where they have the actual deleted scene embedded. It's awesome!

A Zombie Apocalypse Retreat

Still looking around for a bunker to run to when the zombies start shuffling their way across the nation? Trying to find a hideaway that's safe but still has the charm of a quiet little home? Got $500,000?

If you answered yes to any of these questions (especially number three) then you are in luck! Crossover Island in New York is up for sale!

Think of it. Your own quiet little island with room to farm, your own lighthouse, and an adorable 1,575 sq ft, three bedroom, two bathroom farm house... could it be the ultimate place for peace and quiet in a world overrun by the undead?

Apparently, the island was purchase by the government in 1847 in order to construct a lighthouse, as it sits in the spot where ships cross from the Canadian to the American channel of the St. Lawrence river.

In 1882 a caretaker's cottage was built, and in the 1960's was sold and has been a private residence ever since.

Interested? Check it out HERE.

What do you think? Could it be the ultimate sanctuary from the undead? Set up a nice garden, maybe throw some chickens and a cow or two in there... who knows?

The Walking Dead Season FOUR

Recently two friends of mine finally discovered AMC's "The Walking Dead." It's so much fun as they share with me their amazement as they get deeper and deeper into the story. I make sure I NEVER give away anything that would spoil their 'voyage of discovery', but it's tough. I can see all the amazing twists and turns that are coming up and I want to share that SO badly.

I suppose that's how the cast and crew feel with all their fans.

Season four is not that far away people, and I am beside myself with excitement, ESPECIALLY after viewing the season four trailer. And now, they've dropped another little nugget to keep us drooling in anticipation.

Behind the scenes of season four with the cast and crew. Enjoy.

Looking for Work?

It's hard to find work these days. Companies are downsizing all the time (I was a victim of this myself just a year ago), and it seems the unemployment lines are growing longer by the hour. So what do you do if you can't find a gig in your chosen field?

How about becoming a zombie?

Six Flags Great Adventure amusement park in New Jersey is hiring the undead right now! The pay isn't great, and believe it or not, the competition is fierce... but think of the pride you'll feel when you update that resume and hit the streets again with a NEW special skill under your belt... that of BRAIN-EATER!

Hunting for a Dixon!

I always knew that AMC "The Walking Dead" star, Norman Reedus was popular with the ladies, but I didn't know he had such power as to make them wander from their homes, kids in tow, on a quest to track him down!

Here's some info from Oregon Live:

* * *

"LAGRANGE, Ga. — A disoriented Mississippi woman and her three children ended up in Georgia while on a quest to find "her man"— an actor who plays a zombie slayer on the TV show "The Walking Dead," authorities said.

Police said an officer responding to a reported burglary in progress at a LaGrange home Sunday night found the woman coming out the front door.

The woman told LaGrange Police Officer Jason Duncan she didn't know where Reedus lived. "She said that she did not have that information as it was in the GPS that she left in her car," the officer said, learning that their car had run out of gas on the trip. Cops had taken them to a police department, then a shelter in LaGrange.

...she was taken to a hospital for treatment and evaluation, and wasn't charged with any crimes due to her mental state. Her husband, contacted by authorities, took the children back to Mississippi."

You think she brought along a nightie made out of squirrel pelts?
