I did a short series some time back introducing awesome ideas for "sweet rides" for the impending zombie apocalypse. It appears we have a late arrival to the party.
Introducing the Devolro Diablo... basically a Toyota Tundra pumped up on a big gulp-sized portion of steroids!
So what's it got? Seven inch lift bumpers, a 520 hp supercharged V8, a 50-gallon gas tank, crazy amounts of LED lighting and a roof-top rack just for starters. Want more? The Miami-based shop will outfit your truck with up to six bunks, a kitchen and a bathroom.....IF you've got a couple hundred thousand dollars laying around.

New World War Z Trailer
We are drawing closer to summer, and that means two things. WARMTH, and the release of Brad Pitt's big screen version of Max Brooks' book, "World War Z."
It looks as if they have really taken their own path from the book, but I'll still see it. I'm actually really interested in the way they're creating the zombie horde that runs and works together like an army of ants. It has been called the most expensive zombie movie ever made, and I'd like to see if they got what they paid for.
Anyhoo... there's new poster art and a new trailer that has been released in anticipation of the premiere this summer. I like the artwork because it shows the level of danger that would be present if nearly everyone on the planet became zombies.
The trailer isn't really THAT much different, although there are some extras added... including about seven more shots of Brad Pitt looking fearful.

EVIL DEAD
Remember way back in 1981? I do... sort of...
How about a crazy little film that came out starring the coolest man to ever walk the planet? That's right! It was in 1981 when Bruce Campbell and the original "Evil Dead" burst forth from the screen, and kicked us in our screaming eyeballs!
Fast forward a handful of years to now (or April 5th to be exact) and you can be a part of the "rebirth" of said cult classic!
Will this movie be able to fill the shoes of the original? It's a difficult task, but from the trailer it sure looks like it might!
Check it out:
And as a bonus, check out THIS video interview with the remakes director, cast, and the man who will forever be known as "Ash" to me.... Mr. Bruce Campbell.

The Pied Piper of Woodbury
Warning: Spoilers Ahead
Last night's episode of AMC's "The Walking Dead" was quite the boil-over as Rick planned on sacrificing Michonne for the good of the group. He readied Daryl, Herschel and Merle and went to find something to bind her up with before finally coming to his senses and changing his mind.
Unfortunately, Merle knew Rick wouldn't follow thru with it, and took matters into his own "hand", tying up Michonne and heading toward the Governor.
But guess what? It turns out that deep underneath that gritty, racist exterior is a heart of gold, as he not only let Michonne go, but he led a brilliant offensive against the Governor and his men who were waiting to kill Rick.
Using a hot-wired car, he led a group of walkers right to the meeting location (pied piper style), set himself up inside a building, and once the Governor's men started firing at the walkers, he started firing at THEM! The beauty is that with all the gun fire, no one suspected that anyone was shooting at them... that is, until Merle (while aiming at the Governor himself) accidentally shot young Ben, the teenage boy member of Tyreese's group. To make matters worse, Merle was attacked by a walker and in killing it, was exposed to the group.
And then the poop hit the fan.
The Governor and his men beat the crap out of Merle as he tried to fight back. And finally, Merle suffered the ultimate fate... the Governor shot him in the chest and killed him.
Sometime later, after the area was clear, Daryl (who set off after Merle) finds him eating flesh as a walker, and has to put him down.
It was actually very sad and emotional as Merle's last act of heroism 'saved his soul' in the eyes of the viewers.
Here's a look behind the scenes of that episode and interviews with the actors.
Aim high. Run fast. Goodbye Merle.

In case you haven't heard, there's a great new video game on the market as of yesterday based on the Dixon brothers of AMC's "The Walking Dead." You play as Daryl Dixon working your way thru the zombie apocalypse with Merle at your side! How cool is that?!

Into the Fire
Warning: Spoilers Below
Last night's episode of AMC's "The Walking Dead" was amazing! Why? Because something happened that I thought was impossible. Andrea woke up.
Incredible as it sounds, Andrea has finally, FINALLY smelled the coffee that the Governor's been brewing for a while and she does not like it.Worried for her friends, she bolts from Woodbury to both rejoin, and warn them about Captain Whacko's plan to kill everyone on Team Rick.
Unfortunately, Gov. Phillip catches wind of her departure and goes 'hunting', tracking her down inside an old warehouse halfway to the prison. What plays out next is a good old fashioned game of psycho with David Morrissey, who plays the Governor, doing a fantastic job of playing 'Michael Myers' to Andrea's 'Laurie Strode' (by the way Andrea's real name is Laurie... coincidence?)
Score one for Andrea as she tricks him into a sea of walkers and leaves him for dead.
But, alas, Andrea seems to have forgotten horror 101 and, with the prison in sight, assumes she's safe, waving to Rick to let her in.... only to be tackled by the Governor before Rick can notice. And now she's chained in the torture room meant for Michonne... and no one (except the Governor) knows she's there.
Check out the video below for the inside scoop, and if you haven't watched the episode yet, PLEASE do so as soon as possible. It was amazing.

Key & Peele Zombies
In the last post, I mentioned Keegan Michael Key being on "Talking Dead" with Chris Hardwick. What I forgot to mention is that he has a great comedy show on Comedy Central called Key & Peele!
It's obvious from his appearance on "Talking Dead" that he's a huge fan of "The Walking Dead", and that's awesome. What's even more awesome is this clip from his comedy show that, according to Mr. Key himself, was inspired by "The Walking Dead."

Talking Dead
I'm still rolling last weeks episode of AMC's "The Walking Dead" around in my mind. I thought it was fantastic on so many levels.
Here's a clip from "Talking Dead", the terrific walker-based talk show that airs immediately after "Walking Dead." In this clip, host Chris Hardwick discusses last week's 'peace negotiations' with special guests Keegan-Michael Key, Eliza Dushku, and our beloved "Maggie" - Lauren Cohan!
Enjoy.

So it's the zombie apocalypse and you want to blend in. What can you do?
Demeter Fragrance has figured it out! They are launching their own limited edition fragrances: "Zombie for Him" and "Zombie for Her."
Zombie for Him is described as "a combination of dried leaves, mushrooms, mildew, moss and earth" while the ladies version has all of that with a "touch of Dregs from the bottom of the wine barrel for that feminine touch."
I know what you're thinking! "Shut up and take my money!"
Get them HERE for $20 for 1 oz. spray, and $39.50 for 4 oz. spray.

Face to Face!
Warning: Spoilers below!
Last night's episode of AMC's "The Walking Dead" was all about 'peace talks' between Rick and the Governor and it was awesome.
So what was the first thing I loved? They both kicked Andrea out of the negotiations. That just made me smile.
But the best part? The best part was not Glenn's unfolding courage to keep Merle from leaving the prison and potentially destroying the group's plan..... nor was it the verbal chess match between Rick and the Governor... in my opinion, it was the walker-killing contest between Daryl and the Governor's henchman, Martinez. When a group of walkers showed up, both men took on kind of a "let's see what you can do" mentality. Guess who won? Was there a doubt? Martinez is pretty tough, but Daryl won out with a sweet knife throw.
What was interesting about this episode is that the two groups actually bonded a little. Daryl and Martinez smoked, while Martinez opened up a little about the family he once had, and Milton and Herschel actually shared a laugh over, of all things, Milton wanting to see Herschel's 'leg stump.'
Here's a video showing what went on, and reflection from those involved as to what it means to the characters involved.

Zombies Influence On Higher Learning
We all know that zombies are everywhere these days. The world is suddenly full of zombie fans, although 15 years ago, most of them would have mocked we TRUE fans of the undead for enjoying such a thing.
It has been fun watching the virus-like spread of zombie fanaticism take over the world, but even I had no idea it would reach this far.
Did you know...at Michigan State University, students can enroll in a seven-week summer course that examines the way people behave during catastrophes? During the summer, they'll explore the way humans behave in times of turmoil. Divided into teams, they'll be placed in a zombie apocalypse situation and tasked with handling various situations.
If you liked that, you'll love this... At Lone Star College-Montgomery, a course was offered last spring that focused on the cultural impact of zombies. Students were given "World War Z" by Max Brooks to read, watched zombie-centric films, held "blood and food drives" and even played capture the flag, with some of the students dressed as the undead.
Of course nothing is as exciting as attending school HERE!

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies - the Movie
The wild and crazy mash up of Jane Austen's 1813 novel and the genre of the undead is headed for the big screen!
Panorama Media is joining up with Darko Entertainment, Handsomecharlie Films, and Allison Shearmur Productions to take it from book to film.
Rumored female lead, Natalie Portman, is apparently set to produce... no word if she'll play Elizabeth Bennet, but having her name attached can't hurt, right?
Stay tuned for updates.

The Return of Morgan!
Warning: Spoilers Below!
Aim high. Run fast.

It was just a couple of nights ago that my sons and I were
talking about AMC’s hit show, “The Walking Dead” and I wondered aloud if we
would ever see Morgan or Duane again. If you remember, they’re the ones that found Rick after his
leaving the hospital and, after an initial shovel to the face, saved his life.
Well last night’s episode, entitled “Clear”, was all about
the return of Morgan! It seems he’s been a busy boy, constructing all kinds of
Scooby-Doo style booby traps. Unfortunately, Duane is a goner… and what makes
it worse is that he was apparently killed by the one zombie Morgan didn't have
the emotional strength to kill… that of his wife.
As you can imagine, that kind of guilt has driven Morgan a
little bonkers, resulting in Rick having a really hard time convincing him of
who he was. Eventually, Morgan came around and, after being offered the chance
to come to the prison with Rick, he chooses to stay put.. claiming that his
mission in this world is to “clear”, meaning kill and burn zombies.
This episode was an emotional roller coaster of anger and sadness coupled with the warm-fuzzies of an emerging bond between Michonne, Carl and eventually Rick. "I think she's one of us" Carl told his dad....
This episode might very well go down as one of my personal favorites.
Oh! Did I mention a hitchhiker gets ripped to shreds?!

The BBC Presents "In The Flesh"
Our 'friends across the pond' are bringing a zombie television series to the BBC! It's called "In The Flesh" and is not quite like "The Walking Dead." In fact, the plot follows an undead teen trying to reintegrate into society after being rehabilitated by the British Government.
Personally, I don't care for the whole "rehabilitated zombie" idea. I didn't like it in Romero's "Day of the Dead", or Romero's "Land of the Dead" (zombies should never fire weapons, or plan their attacks). I prefer my undead eternally stupid, and horrifically violent... but that's just me.
Here's a trailer:
