Huge Ratings for "The Walking Dead" Season Three Premiere!

There's no doubt that AMC's "The Walking Dead" is a fantastic program. You know it, I know it, and now it seems everyone else is figuring that out as well!

Last Sunday's premiere drew in 10.9 million viewers, which is about 50% more than the season 2 premiere, and NOW it ranks as the biggest telecast of any drama series in basic-cable history! How freakin' sweet is that?

But, that's not all.

In the key category of adults between the ages of 18 - 49, "The Walking Dead" premiere scored 7.3 million viewers. That's higher than "Modern Family" AND "The Voice!" (see the whole article here)

Take THAT Dish!

Here's Steven Yeun (Glenn) talking with L.A. Times reporter, Scott Collins:

Return of "The Walking Dead"!

Warning: Spoilers Ahead

Rick and his band of survivors are back, and boy are they getting good at this zombie killing thing!

The shows producers and writers have been talking for months about how the action has been seriously pumped up this year and they weren't kidding! They hit the ground running with everyone on the run from the ever growing hordes of walkers that are right on their heels. Everyone seems to know their place and duty and they are a well-oiled machine!

Michonne made a brief appearance, but was onscreen long enough to show us all how skilled she is in head removal. Like a female Darryl, she wields her weapon with scary accuracy and a steel-eyed focus.

All thru the episode, Rick shows us how he's grown into the leadership role with a no-nonsense approach to everything. This includes his wife, who at the end of last season spit fire and attitude at him for killing Shane... something that had to be done.

Lori is near the end of her pregnancy and needing a clean, dry place to have the baby. Fortunately, the prison is discovered and the process of clearing it out begins.

Despite the small pockets of undead, securing the prison goes well until Herschel is bitten on the ankle! As we all know, a bite spells a quick, miserable death, but Rick had an idea - an idea so radical, I'm not sure last seasons Rick could have done it. In a matter of a few whacks, he lops off the bottom portion of Herschel's leg, in an attempt to save his life. Obviously, the pain is too great, and Herschel passes out. Only time will tell if Rick's idea will work.

As if that weren't enough to blow your mind, the episode ends with the discovery of more survivors... prisoners!

There it is... the new season is here and we have hit the ground SPRINTING!

Today Is THE DAY!

This is it, zombie fans! The day we've been waiting for since late March... the premiere of AMC's "The Walking Dead" Season Three!!!

On a personal note, this will be kind of a different season for me, as I am still on Dish Network. You remember Dish right? They dropped AMC and left us all high and dry.

So, why am I still with Dish? Prepare for a list of excuses... 1) We are under contract, and I don't want to pay a fee for leaving... 2) We have a lot of stuff on our DVR that I really don't want to lose, including hours of programs that have yet to be watched... 3) This is the first time I've had an issue with Dish. Their prices are reasonable and I'm still hoping that they'll be adding AMC back sometime during the season.

OK... having said that, how will I be watching the greatest show of all time? Well, for the premiere episode, AMC will be showing it online for free at the same time as it shows on tv. All they require is that you register ahead of time. Click HERE for the info.

As for the rest of the season, I'll be purchasing each episode on itunes when it becomes available the next day.

But enough about that!! Break out the pizza and shotguns! It's zombie time!!

Aim high. Run fast. Tune in.

In Anticipation of Sunday!

As all fans of AMC's "The Walking Dead" are aware, this Sunday, Oct. 14th brings the premiere of Season Three!! Once more we will be walking side by side with Rick, Darryl, and all the other survivors as they hack and blast their way through their new life in a post-apocalyptic world.

In anticipation of the new season, I've been surfing the inter-web for images, stories, blogs, updates, etc relating to the show. One day I stumbled upon a great picture of Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Robert Kirkman (writer, Creator of "The Walking Dead" comic), Sarah Wayne Callies (Lori), and Jon Bernthal (Shane).

Of course, we know that Shane is no longer a survivor OR a walker, but I still loved the picture enough I had to send it through the B'HQ zombification machine!

I emailed it to Andrew Lincoln (through his management rep) in hopes that he might get a kick out of it - much like the shirt I sent him (read about that HERE). If I hear anything back, I'll definitely let you know, but in the meantime, order the pizza, and get the chips and dip ready.... Sunday is nearly here!

Board Game of the Dead!

Zombie game pieces and dice
for the new "Zpocalypse" board game.
(T&G Staff/STEVE LANAVA)
There's a new board game in town, and it's all about survival in a post-apocalyptic world plagued by the undead.

Two years ago, Jeff Gracia decided to create a zombie board game that contained everything the others didn't. Two to four players start in a basement shelter and work their way through tunnels, and sewers as they try to exist in their new found wasteland. Read the full article HERE.
